Current Issues in Economics and Politics

The Economist- This British weekly news magazine is one of the most well-respected pieces of journalism in the world on international politics and economics. They do have excerpts of articles and a host of other valuable information for students. We have used the regular magazine as a course supplement and I would suggest it to anyone.

THE DISMAL SCIENTIST- "THE WEB'S AUTHORITATIVE WEB SITE FOR ECONOMIC INFORMATION"a web site aimed at college students interested in the US economy. The site provides a 'quick summary of major economic releases, along with an economist's perspective on its implications' and a summary table of the main indicators. It also contains regional data for all 50 states, Washington D.C., and 257 metro areas which can be ranked by different criteria. Other features include historical and forecast information for various geographical level variables and an economic data series dictionary." (The Scout Report)

The Washington Post- A fine source for not only national news but also international news.

Top Trading Partners for the U.S - Xports, Mports and Total Trade

The Economic Report of the President - An excellent source to begin with. The Report is produced annually by the Council of Economic Advisors. It outlines and justifies the major economic policies of the current administration. The Report also includes an appendix of tables which provide annual date on a wide range of economic measures.

White Papers from the Council of Economic Advisors - Short reports on issues of concern to the Council.
