This is the README file which accompanies the publically available dataset for the psychophysical experiments described in DiMattina & Baker (2018+). This paper is currently available in pre-print form at bioRxiv.org at http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/369041v4. There are 5 .zip files in the dataset, labeled by the experiment. The datasets are in MATLAB .mat format, which can be read by MATLAB or Python. Within each folder, the files are indexed by the batch number for the pre-computed carrier patterns and the observer initials. Each file contains 1000 stimulus-response pairs. The data is contained in the trialRecord structure, which is indexed by the stimulus number and repetition number. The most relevant information for developing models of psychophysical performance are the variables: - stimulus image - modulation depth - observer response - actual stimulus orientation You are encouraged to reproduce the results in the paper using this data.
