Tuesday, April 29, 2008 1:31 AM Subject: Phosphate Mine Hits Speed Bump at 90 mph After about five hours of testimony from expert witnesses, Richard Weisskoff (economist) and Sydney Bacchus (hydroecologist), a critical ppt. presentation by yours truly, a passionate closing argument by Lawyer Brad Kelsky and overwhelming public comment denouncing phosphate mining the Hardee County Zoning and Planning Board decided to take another six weeks to ruminate over the Development Order recommending the mine and other county permits required by Mosaic. Without the consent of the P&Z Board the county commission could not take the proposal to a vote. This was a far cry from the sweep that Mosaic was anticipating for the evening. The matter will be continued until June 5, 6:00 p.m. at the county commission chambers, Wauchula. 3PR offers heartfelt thanks to all of you who came from afar to offer your comments and support in this effort.
